Adiabatic Flame Temperature?

Adiabatic flame temperature is the temperature when heat released by the reaction heats the combustion produts.

Project Objective

The objective of an adiabatic flame temperature calculation project is to determine the temperature that is achived when a fuel is burned completely in the presence of oxidant without any heat loss to the surroundings. This is referr to to as the adiabatic flame temperature because it assumes that there is no heat transfer between combustion reaction and the surroundings. The calculation of the adiabatic flame temperature involves determining the entalphy chnage of the combustion reaction and using first law of thermodynamics to balance the energy relesed by the reaction with heat capacity of the products and reactants. The adiabatic flame temperature is an important parameter in the design of combustion system, such as industrial furnaces, boilers, and gas turbines. It is used to optimize the combustion process to achieve the desired temperature for a given fuel and oxidant mixture, and to ensure that the combustion process is efficient and safe.

Research Methodology

Adiabatic flame temperature calculation is a process used to determine the theoretical temperature of a combustion reaction under the assumption that no heat is lost or gained from the surroundings. The methodology for calculating adiabatic flame temperature involves several steps, including: 1.Determination of the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio for the combustion reaction: This involves calculating the amount of air required for complete combustion of the fuel based on the fuel's chemical composition. 2.Calculation of the products of combustion: This step involves determining the products of combustion, including the mole fractions of each gas species, the specific heat capacity of each species, and the enthalpy of each species. 3.Determination of the adiabatic flame temperature: This is the final step of the calculation and involves solving the energy balance equation, which assumes that the heat released by the combustion reaction is equal to the heat absorbed by the products of combustion. This equation can be solved using the method of iteration, where the temperature is calculated until a convergence criteria is met.
